Here Comes Peter Cottontail.....

Well, I don't know about you....but I LOVE Easter !! I mean, what's not to love....there's chocolate, chocolate and oh, did I mention chocolate?!!

The children get so excited about the thought of the Easter Bunny coming and leaving them some eggs and and enjoying a chocolate filled breakfast !! I just love the company of my children, husband and our families, taking some time out of our busy schedules and just relaxing.

Our families are coming together this year for Easter which would have to be a first for as long as I can remember, and because our children are a little older, I decided to put together a lovely Easter Buffet for the children {and of course the adults!} to enjoy and create a lasting memory.

I started working on the centrepiece for our buffet and I cannot wait to show you all the final results, after Easter Sunday.

I really hope that the Easter Bunny is good to you all and you have a safe and Happy Easter xo

Vintage Tea Party

For some time now, as you all know, I have been planning a tea party for my daughter who is turning 6 {tomorrow!}. It feels like I have been planning this party forever!!
Well, I can safely say that we have had this party and with only a few glitches, it didn't turn out too bad!
Weather posed as a big problem....we initially were going to set up in our backyard on our deck, but at the last moment our deck started to leak from the heaviness of the rain!! So, I turned to plan B, to set up in our dining room!!
I wasn't sure how this would look, but it turned out pretty nice.
So, without further ado, here is Olivia's Vintage Tea Party!

The Dining Table

Placecards, Napkins & Doll
Teapot Cookies favours

Teacup Jelly

Napkins & Teapot Cookie

Chocolate Cake

Jam Drops

Chicken, Lettuce & Mayo Sandwiches

Scones with Cream & Jam

Meringue Nests with Cream and Berries

Teapot Smarties

Table Runner

Enjoying the Ribbon Wands

My idea for this party was to get away from the typical pink's which are always associated with little girls!! So we opted for lilac, baby blue and cream/white. I wanted to keep the table linen simple with a white linen tablecloth and used different textured ribbons, in the party's theme colours, for the table runner. I added pearls down either side for a little extra vintage!!
I had Olivia's dress made to suit the style and colours of the party and the dress was made by the lovely Carolyn of Chicoco.
I also wanted to keep away from the typical party favours of lollies and cheap toys, whilst also keeping in with the theme, I decided to have handmade dolls, ribbon wands, hair fascinators, mini tote bags and teapot cookies made for the girls to enjoy and take home. A lovely momento of their day.
I put together a lovely framed placecard for each guest which they also took home along with the teacups and saucers!

So this is what my vision was for a vintage tea party, while also keeping it at a little girl's level.....and as you can see, a fun time was had by the girls' {and I must admit, that I too had a ball!}. These girls' were so fun to have together and are all divine little women. I look forward to many more moments like this with these girls' throughout their friendships xo

white....as opposed to colour

I don't know about you, but I just love white for everything!! To decorate with white creates a relaxing atmosphere in which one enjoys to be around.

I love white in wall colours.....simple, clean and spacious. But you must be careful when choosing white for a room and remembering that white makes a room appear spacious and if the room is already quite large, then you may want to avoid white and go for a more neutral, or warmer colour. If this is the case then white can be added in furnishings, lamps, curtains or rugs.

If you are looking for a calm and peaceful colour choice for a particular room as in bedroom or living areas where your family spend a great deal of time.....and keeping in mind the room size.....then white would be a lovely solution. Incorporating soft colours in blue, taupes, pinks, will add to the mood you are trying to achieve.

The other advantage of having your walls in a white, whether a cool or warm white, means less hassle for you when you change your mind about furnishings and colour schemes!! If you are anything like me, that would be every year!!!

Just remember, that white can be quite stark if not used properly. Choose your colours wisely and make sure the area which you are painting portrays the message and feeling you intend it too. Do you want your guests to feel calm and welcomed as they enter or are you wanting to excite them with something bright and creative??

Audrey Hepburn.....True Class.

Audrey Hepburn.....the epitomy of style, grace and class.

Today I had a friend share this with myself and many others....and I thought I should pop it into my blog as a lovely reminder from the Queen of Style.

Audrey Hepburn's Beauty Tips {later read at her Funeral} What a Woman she was!

For attractive lips, speak words of kindness.
For lovely eyes, seek out the good in people.
For a slim figure, share your food with the hungry.
For beautiful hair, let a child run his/her fingers through it once a day.
For poise, walk....with the knowledge that you never walk alone.
People, even more than things, have to be restored, renewed, revived, reclaimed, and redeemed; never throw out anyone.
Remember, if you ever need a helping hand, you will find one at the end of each of your arms. As you grow older, you will discover that you have two hands; one for helping yourself, and the other for helping others.

God Bless you Audrey xo

White Lane Studio Logo

I have been so excited and as proud as punch lately due to the designing of White Lane Studio's new logo!! I have given it such thought for the past few months about what I actually wanted and who I wanted to design it.

It should come as no surprise that I ended up going with Anna of Design With Style. Anna's work is a true testiment to her professionalism and her passion for what she does.

When wanting to know what I was after she really grilled me! {this made me have to think quite hard about what I wanted from my business} with questions relating to me and my business so she could really put something spectacular together. I was given 4 design proofs to choose from and make any amendments to along the way. I choose the first design proof, with which I did not amend, and this is the one I have today. I could not be any happier with it.
I wanted a logo which obviously showed what I do, hence the buffet and bunting {relating to children} and the sign post was significant to me because it was the first thing I thought of when I said out loud "White Lane Studio"!! Having the word lane in my business name is why I wanted a sign post of some description and I had a vision in my head for what I wanted, but when Anna produced this logo I almost fell off my chair, squealing with excitement!!

The excitement for White Lane Studio is continuing as Anna and the lovely Nicki from Green Label Web Design start working on my new website!! Things are starting to get bigger and better for White Lane Studio and I cannot wait to share my every success {and failings!} with you all along the way. Without your support I don't think I would have the courage or confidence to push myself further and excel!

So hold on tight and get ready for the ride!!
Happy styling and happy smiling :)

PS. I highly, highly recommend Anna for any graphic design work your business may require.

Easter Project

I am currently working on an Easter project for my family. I love easter....the chocolate, great food and company and fabulous styling! Not forgetting the true meaning of Easter. I have been thinking about what colours, accessories and food I would love to have for our Easter and the colours baby blue, yellow and green came to mind. I have been searching for inspiration for my party to add to some of the ideas I already have for the day.

I am looking at creating some fabulous table styling and including some yummy edible details too!! The best part for me in all of this project is the fact that my 4 children will be included in the decoration creating! I wanted their imput and asked them the sort of things they think of when they hear Easter....no surprise that the first thing was chocolate eggs!! I cannot believe that I am already thinking of Easter....the year is going to fly by so quickly :(

My inspiration for my Easter project are above!!

I look forward to showing you all the final pictures!!
Happy styling :)
